One New Yorker dies every six hours from a drug overdose. Since Democrats took control of the state legislature, local leaders are trying to figure out how to approach the problem differently. New York State Senator representing the 33rd Senate District, covering the Bronx, Gustavo Rivera talks about a new joint senate task force on overdose prevention, which aims to be less punitive and examine lifesaving tools like "safe injection sites," and medically assistant treatment for incarcerated individuals.
