The legendary Debbie Allen joins us to discuss how the AIDS Healthcare Foundation and the Debbie Allen Dance Academy have partnered to produce the AHF’s annual event for World AIDS Day on November 30 at the Apollo Theater called “Keeping the Promise – 1,000,000 in Care – Celebrating ICONS of Dance” where she will also be honored with the AHF’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

 

(25:35) Anna Sale, host and managing editor of the WNYC Studios podcast Death, Sex and Money, joins us to discuss the story of Hiroki Takeuchi and his wife, Rachel Swidenbank. They’re the subject of the podcast’s newest episode, which premiered last weeks called “Married, Paralyzed and Moving On.”

 

(39:25) Comedian and writer Janelle James joins us to discuss her four-day comedy festival at The Bell House in Brooklyn called the Janelle James Comedy Festival, which starts on December 4. James's festival is taking over for the Eugene Mirman Festival that ran for the last decade.
