Julian de la Chica is a Colombian-born composer and pianist based in Brooklyn. Much of his music is spare and pensive, and some of it was written for the mezzo-soprano Yana Mann, Russian-born but based in Dubai, including a song cycle called Poemas de Bar - inspired by conversations overheard in Brooklyn bars in the early hours of the morning. Mezzo-soprano Yana Mann premieres Poemas de Bar by composer and pianist Julian de la Chica on Thurs. night, Feb. 10, at Carnegie’s Weill Recital Hall.
