Yann Tiersen at Brooklyn Steel
June 24. 9PM. $39.50 + fees

The pianist and composer Yann Tiersen became accidentally famous as a film composer when some of his music was used in the 2001 French movie Amélie, and since then he’s attracted fans around the globe for his lyrical, neoclassical works. Tiersen is from Brittany, in northwestern France. Specifically, from the island of Ushant, where he occasionally tramps around recording the sounds of the wind, and the birds, which he mixes with his own keyboards to create music that is instrumental but still has a strong sense of place. Yann Tiersen plays at Brooklyn Steel on Friday, June 24.

This is “Yuzin,” the name of a place on the island of Ushant, where Tiersen lives:
