Singer and songwriter Yoyo Tuki comes from Rapa Nui, or Easter Island as it’s known in English. His music blends the sounds of Western pop with traditional instruments from across Polynesia and the Indian Ocean. This song features musicians from as far afield as Madagascar and Papua New Guinea, playing traditional zithers and pan pipes among others. It’s a celebration of Oceanic culture, with Tuki himself singing and playing the Polynesian ukulele. Yoyo Tuki plays a live set Thursday afternoon, April 9, at 4pm EDT, as part of the Virtual Music Lounge put together by Lindblad Expeditions, whose music cruises have included Tuki and his band in the past.
