Hundreds of musical traditions from around the world have a home here in New York. And since 1968, the Center For Traditional Music And Dance has celebrated and supported those traditions by presenting concerts around the city. This month, the Center moved its longstanding Beat Of The Boroughs series online, with events each Monday, Wednesday and Friday. On Monday, Nov. 23, at 5pm, it’s Yuri Yunakov, the Bulgarian-born sax player who specializes in the Roma, or gypsy, music of the Balkans. It’s high-octane dance music, if you’re brave enough to try those tricky Balkan rhythms. Yuri Yunakov plays in the Beat Of The Boroughs online series on Monday, Nov. 23, at 5PM. WNYC’s Arun Venugopal hosts.
