Zila Khan is a singer, actor, and has been a cultural ambassador for the Indian government. She is the daughter of Vilayat Khan, a famous sitar player, and she has become adept at singing Indian classical music, jazz-inflected crossover projects, and her speciality, the ancient sung poems known as ghazals. In fact, this song by Zila Khan is a tribute to the man who invented that style back in the 13^th century. Zila Khan performs tonight at the Asia Society.
