Chanticleer at Trinity Church

Apr. 22 | 6:30 pm | $45

A little over six and a half centuries ago, medieval music began to get modern. It happened with this piece called the Messe de Nostre Dame by the French composer and poet Guillaume de Machaut. The musical setting of the mass was one of the first multi-part, large-scale notated compositions in Western music. Incredibly, it has never been played here in New York. That changes this week when the all-male choir called Chanticleer gives the work a long overdue East Coast premiere. See them perform on Wednesday night, April 22, at Trinity Church in lower Manhattan.
