Red Baraat at Barbès

Apr. 23 | 10:00 pm | $22.90

Although they’re based in Brooklyn, Red Baraat plays music rooted in the irresistible dance beats of Punjabi wedding music, married to the sounds of jazzy horns, funky bass, and vocals that draw on rap, call-and-response chanting, and Indian pop. The result is often hard partying music that has a strong social conscience. The band headlined the New Sounds 40th anniversary party a couple of years back and have been regular guests in our studio. But on Thursday night, April 23, they’ll be playing a late set at Barbès, in Park Slope.
