Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler on "This Mirror Weighs a Ton" and revisiting the Mercury Lounge

WNYC News | 4 hours ago

If you were interested in seeing rock and roll at its best 25 years ago, you would have headed down to the Lower East Side club Mercury Lounge. And one of the bands generating a lot of buzz at the venue at that time was Interpol. They’ve been at it consistently for the past quarter decade, releasing eight excellent albums.

Last month, they released their newest, "This Mirror Weighs a Ton." To celebrate the success of that album, the band went back to where it all began by performing again at the Mercury Lounge, a venue that is much, much too small for the dedicated New York audience the band has cultivated in their career.

Interpol guitarist Daniel Kessler talked with WNYC's Sean Carlson to discuss that special show and the new album.
