What one Brooklyn violence intervention group is doing to curb violence this summer in NYC.

July and August have averaged the highest number of shootings and murders compared to all other months in New York City, according to an analysis by the policy journal Vital City. 

Elite Learners is a community based organization in Central Brooklyn that provides mentorship and focuses on violence prevention for youth and at-risk individuals. The founder and CEO of Elite Learners, Camara Jackson, joins WNYC's David Furst to talk more about violence prevention in the summer.
