Pamela Z is a composer and vocalist – somehow “singer” doesn’t seem the right word for what she does, even though she has operatic training. Because Pamela Z also uses her voice to tell stories and to provide the raw sonic material for her live electronic performances, where she uses looping and electronic processing to turn her singing, talking, and other vocal sounds into a shifting series of sonic landscapes. Pamela Z. plays a solo show of voice and live electronics on Aug. 18 at the DiMenna Center as part of the TIME:SPANS Festival.
