In Season: peaches and nectarines
WNYC News | 7 hours ago
Stone fruit farmers had a rough growing season this year, with an extreme mid-spring frost jeopardizing their harvest. But it didn't stop them entirely; markets are still abundant in nectarines, peaches and plums.Â
Amelia Tarpey, Program and Publicity Manger for GrowNYC Greenmarkets, recommends using this miracle harvest to make a fish and stone fruit crudo, a fruit cobbler, jam and grilled peaches on toast.
Right now at Greenmarkets, peaches and nectarines are going for about $4 to $7 per pound. Be careful not to squeeze the stone fruit when you're at market!Â
