In Season: green peas

WNYC News | Jun 12

Farmers markets are teeming with snow peas, sugar snap peas and shelling peas. Amelia Tarpey, Program and Publicity Manager for GrowNYC Greenmarkets, says you can find shelling peas, sugar snap peas and even snow peas in various colors. Amelia makes salads out of sugar snap peas by cutting them at a diagonal and tossing them with a medley of vegetables and a tangy vinaigrette. You can also make a green pea pesto using shelling peas -- just get the kids or some friends to help with the shelling.

Right now at market, sugar snap peas are going for about $10 per pound.
