Joy Guidry at the Park Avenue Armory Veterans Room

Joy Guidry plays the bassoon, and is a versatile improviser, performance artist, and composer of experimental music. Her album Five Prayers is a collection of works for bassoon with electronics, in which the Houston-born Guidry takes inspiration from the spirit of the Black church and atmospheric sounds of Brian Eno’s ambient music. Joy Guidry creates a ruminative performance in the spirit of a Southern church revival and based on her ambient album Five Prayers at the Park Avenue Armory on June 3 and June 4, in the beautifully restored Veteran’s Room.
