Stella Standingbear at Urban Indigenous Collective

May 22 | 7:00 pm | $20

Stella Standingbear is a Lakota Sioux singer and songwriter. Her music is a thoroughly modern collision of Native American tradition, especially the so-called rez slang popularized by the TV series Reservation Dogs, with modern hip hop beats and production. She’s become something of a road warrior, touring across North America and even singing at halftime of an NBA game in Phoenix. Now her Off The Rez Tour is rolling into New York, and you can expect to hear some version of her Tik Tok hit, “Skoden,” which means “let’s go then!” She performs on May 22 at Urban Indigenous Collective.
