Morning Edition's Yankees and Mets superfans check in at the MLB season's halfway point

New York City's two Major League Baseball teams are back for the second half of the season. The Mets play the hot Philadelphia Phillies, while the Yankees face off against the back-to-back World Series champions, the Los Angeles Dodgers. 

With three and a half months of baseball behind us, the Morning Edition team wanted to check in with some baseball diehards about what the 2026 season has been like so far. 

Morning Edition producer Amanda Rozon loves the Yankees. Morning Edition producer Verónica Del Valle is a Mets fan. Both of them joined WNYC's Michael Hill to talk about their favorite teams, and what lies ahead.
