
Foreclosures nearly double in the Bronx

Foreclosures are down citywide, but they’ve nearly doubled in the Bronx. That’s according to a new report from the real estate platform PropertyShark. The report says foreclosures in New York City are down 5% year over year. But foreclosures in the Bronx reached 109 in the second quarter of 2026, which is a seven-year high.
Christie Peale is the CEO and Executive Director of the Center for NYC Neighborhoods, which advocates for affordable home ownership across the city. She joins WNYC's Sean Carlson to talk more about it.
