In Season: apple cider

WNYC News | Oct 23

The chill in the air calls for a warm cup of apple cider.

Amelia Tarpey, Program and Publicity Manager for GrowNYC Greenmarkets, says cider is a good way for orchards to repurpose "seconds," the small and imperfect apples growers often have in abundance.

Right now, a half gallon of cider is going for $6 to $8 dollars.

You can try samples of different area ciders at Cider Village this Friday at the Union Square Greenmarket, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
