Japanese composer Joe Hisaishi has written concertos and chamber music, symphonic works and piano pieces. But to anyone who’s ever fallen under the spell of the animated films of Hayao Miyazaki, Joe Hisaishi will always be known for the soundtracks he has done for Miyazaki classics like Spirited Away, Kiki’s Delivery Service, My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and the music from the movie Howl’s Moving Castle. Hisaishi, the Orchestra of St Luke’s, and Master Voices are doing a weeklong residency at Radio City Music Hall, where they’ll play excerpts along with clips of the films.
