New Graphic Novel Explores the Early Days of the AIDS Crisis

In the mid-1980s, author Emil Wilson's father brought home an ailing coworker to live in their home in small-town Oregon. But when it is eventually revealed that this coworker has HIV, everyone's lives are upended. Wilson has written and illustrated a graphic novel based on this true story, titled The Nightingales. He discusses the novel, and his family's story.
