Both on his own and as half of the duo Black Star in the 90s, Brooklyn rapper Talib Kweli has been a leading figure in the world of socially conscious rap for over twenty years. But his career has cast a wider net than just hip hop; he’s collaborated with Norah Jones, the Brazilian singer Seu Jorge, R&B star Miguel, and his lyrics occasionally name check jazz greats of the past. So it’s no surprise to see Talib Kweli leading a live band at a famous jazz club like the Blue Note on August 4 and August 5 -- two shows each night, at 8 pm and 10:30 pm.
