Two powerful New Jersey Democrats are locked in a public spat over county taxes.

In a series of dueling public statements over the past two weeks, Newark Mayor Ras Baraka and Essex County Executive Joseph DiVincenzo have been debating whether the city and its residents should get a break for hosting dozens of tax exempt county-owned properties.
