There’s something artists spend years trying to develop — a style of their own. Something that makes their work instantly recognizable.
Generative AI has complicated that. Because these systems learn by “scraping” enormous amounts of existing art – including the work of artists who never imagined their paintings would be used that way.
And those artists are crying foul. And increasingly, they’re asking courts to decide where inspiration ends and infringement begins.
