Are we having fun yet?

I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny, but we can have lots of good fun that is funny. It’s fun to have fun but you’ve got to know how.

That quote is, of course, attributable to is the great American philosopher and entertainer… the Cat in the Hat.

The question of whether or not we have enough fun isn’t new. Back in 1912, American poet Amy Lowell wrote about Leisure, thou goddess of a bygone age.” She longed for “wide-eyed delights and pleasures uncontrolled by shortening moments.”

Adults today say there isn’t enough fun in their lives. And there’s science that makes a pretty strong case for why it matters. Laughter alone is associated with lower levels of the stress hormone cortisol. And fun has real benefits for your health, your mood, and your relationships.

So, what fun is there to be had these days? And how can we all have a little more of it?
