Two-time Oscar winner Mahershala Ali is known for playing complicated characters — from a comic book villain in the animated Spider-Verse films to a drug-dealing father figure in 2016’s “Moonlight.”
His latest film is his most personal yet. In “Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother,” Ali plays an action hero driven by faith and family. The movie covers a lot of ground. It’s an action-thriller set in Houston’s criminal underground. A hitman, Latif, is trapped in a violent cycle of retribution.
Mahershala Ali and the film’s director, Bassam Tariq, join us to talk about “Your Mother, Your Mother, Your Mother.”
