WQXR’s youngest host Zev Kane came to the station fresh out of college — which isn’t surprising, considering he spent his Bar Mitzvah money on Mozart and Beethoven box sets. Zev’s insatiable appetite for classical music was ignited by early childhood piano lessons with his grandma, and subseZquently fueled by regular outings to the symphony in his hometown of St. Louis. By the time Zev was in high school, he routinely raided his local library’s impressive CD collection, and he had developed his own cataloguing system just to keep track of the many albums he‘d consumed.

Zev is endlessly fascinated by classical music and is furiously passionate about exploring its role in today’s world. Fittingly, Zev got his start at WQXR as a programmer, where he drew upon his extensive knowledge to develop daily on-air playlists and would occasionally write thoughts on newly-released classical albums for the website. He’s recently broadened his horizons from his standing desk to the studio. He hosts Latest/Greatest, a show highlighting new classical releases on the third Monday and Sunday of every month and also hosts occasional overnight shows.
