10 years after Sandy, Hudson River tunnel just as vulnerable to flooding – and a fix isn’t coming until 2038

Most of the region has recovered from Hurricane Sandy, which hit 10 years ago. But there’s one place where the damage remains: the nearly 112-year old North River Tunnel. It’s used by Amtrak and NJTransit trains to cross the Hudson River from Penn Station into New Jersey. Construction on a new tunnel won't be done for at least another decade. WNYC's Stephen Nessen reports there's no plans to prevent flooding in the current tunnel in the meantime -- leaving it as vulnerable today as it was when Sandy hit.
