Lee Bontecou

Studio 360 | Feb 23, 2011

What happens when an artist drops out at the pinnacle of her artistic success? In Lee Bontecou's case, she kept working, and her art got even better. Bontecou abandoned stardom in the New York City scene of the 1970's, to work in seclusion in rural Pennsylvania. This year she's back in a big way. Bontecou's first career retrospective is making its way around the country and moves to the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago February 14th. Produced by Sarah Lilley.
