140,000 New Yorkers Have Now Gotten First Dose of COVID-19 Vaccine, What Comes Next?

It’s been two weeks since frontline healthcare workers in our area started being vaccinated against COVID-19 and so far, about 140,000 people in New York State have received the first dose, out of about two million healthcare workers and nursing home residents and staff in the first phase of vaccine distribution. But we still don’t exactly how long all these phases will take, and there are a lot of unknown details about just who will get vaccinated when. WNYC Host Sean Carlson spoke with Dr. Wafaa El-Sadr, a professor of epidemiology and medicine at Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, and director of the university's ICAP Global Health initiative.
