The Brooklyn singer songwriter Mike Wexler, whose influences include Pink Floyd, Scott Walker and former Soft Machines member Robert Wyatt, pairs his musical folk exploration with psychedelia. On "Ecliptic," off of Wexler's 2007 debut album Sun Wheel, his voice acts as an instrument -- a haunting, delicate presence that's backed by a steady piano. For recordings and live shows, Wexler employs a revolving door of New York City musicians with a wide range of musical backgrounds. Friday night’s performance will include bassist Brad Truax, the newest touring member of the indie-rock band Interpol, along with Brent Cordero on keys and Ryan Sawyer on drums. The avante-psych rock band Nymph opens for Wexler and his crew.
