Beats, Rhymes & Life

Soundcheck | Jul 6, 2011

After putting out five successful albums, hip-hop outfit A Tribe Called Quest suddenly broke up in 1998. When they embarked upon a reunion tour ten years later, actor and passionate hip hop fan Michael Rapaport tagged along with a camera crew. The result is the documentary “Beats, Rhymes & Life: The Travels of a Tribe Called Quest,” which opens this weekend in New York and Los Angeles. Rapaport joins us to discuss the film – and the controversy within the group that it engendered.
