This weekend, the Grammys will bestow a posthumous lifetime achievement award on Gil Scott-Heron, the singer, writer and poet best known for the song “The Revolution Will Not Be Televised.” Today, Los Angeles Times contributor Lynell George explains how Scott-Heron’s recently published memoir, “The Last Holiday,” sheds new light on his personal life and career.
