Elomar, or Elomar Figueira Mello, is a Brazilian singer and composer from the rural area of Vitória da Conquista, in the northeastern state of Bahia. Born in 1937, Elomar has created a unique approach to song, drawing on folk, classical, and ancient troubadour traditions. Host David Garland presents an introduction to Elomar's music, including selections from several albums dating back to the 1970s and '80s. The songs are expressive, adventurous, and elegant, with accompaniments ranging from just guitar to full symphony orchestra.
