Sean 'Diddy' Combs For Musician In Chief
Throughout the past several weeks, Soundcheck has been accepting nominations for our first Musician In Chief. Soundcheck's bullpen contributors have nominated musicians, and made a case for why that artist should become the leader of the free world. So far, Keith Richards, Patti Smith, Jay-Z and Dolly Parton have been nominated. Today, Sowmya Krishnamurthy tells us why Sean "Diddy" Combs deserves your vote.
-----
Candidate: Sean "Diddy" Combs
Nominated By: Sowmya Krishnamurthy
Reason For Nomination:
The "Man of Many Monikers," Diddy is the living embodiment of the "American Dream." Since the age of 19, the self-made entrepreneur has overseen a slew of successful business ventures including Bad Boy Records, Sean John clothing and Ciroc vodka yet his astronomic net worth of some $550 million has not caused him to lose tempo with everyday constituents. Diddy spearheaded 2004 "Vote Or Die" movement, encouraging young people and minorities to vote, and also found time to run the New York City marathon, appear in A Raisin In The Sun on Broadway, win an Oscar, and snag a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame -- all by the age of 42.
Like his motto, "Can't Stop, Won't Stop," hip-hop's consummate Renaissance man will bring the platinum touch to America and make our nation great.
