The Waterboys Have 'An Appointment With Mister Yeats'

Soundcheck | Mar 25, 2013

In 1983, Scottish-born guitarist and singer Mike Scott formed The Waterboys. Over the next 30 years, with the band and on his own, Scott has mined a rich vein of Celtic-tinged rock, much of it while living in Dublin. That’s worth mentioning, especially as The Waterboys’ new album is called An Appointment With Mister Yeats, and it takes poems by the Nobel Prize-winner W. B. Yeats -- a towering figure in 20th century literature and in Irish history -- and gives them some surprising musical turns. The core duo of the band, Mike Scott and fiddler Steve Wickham, tell us more about the project, and they play live.
