From building new audiences to testing new repertoire, the institution faces new challenges and, as Sandow explains, is taking some exciting new risks. And an American music sampler. The Manhattan School of Music's music history professor David Noon joins us to to talk about his survey course on American music, which covers the Pilgrims to the present day. And his students treat us to a live performance of little known works by American greats Aaron Copland and Leo Ornstein.
