The Longest Night

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
It's the start of a week of Soundcheck programs devoted to sacred music. The incomparable Paul Winter tells us about his long-standing tradition of music in celebration of the Winter Solstice. And the noted Shakuhashi Master James Schleffer performs that ancient flute in honor of the Solstice.
Paul Winter began his career as a jazz saxophonist in the mid 1960’s and has since turned his musical talent to earthier pursuits. The Paul Winter Consort and special guests have ushered in the Winter and Summer Solstices for 22 years in breathtaking venues like the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City.
