The Young and the Restless

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
This performance-packed show begins with guitarist Gyan Riley, playing selections from his first solo CD Food for the Bearded. We speak with three young and talented New York based composers, Marc Mellits, Steven Burke and Franz Nicolay about creating and surviving in the Big Apple. Next, ever wished harm on a fellow concert going with a ringing cell phone? Imagine a symphony of cell phones! We hear music writer Kenneth Goldsmith's review of Golan Levin's Dialtones: A Telesymphony. Then, we are treated to a performance from young pianist Lang Lang. The New York Times recently described Lang Lang as a performer playing "with volcanic force" that "sets the stereo on fire."
