The Importance of Being Ernie

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Saxophonist Ken Field plays with the legendary "rocking chamber quartet" Birdsongs of the Mesozoic and composes for "Sesame Street." Field and his new saxophone group join us in the studio today. Also, the pianist from the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Lisa Moore stops by for a performance. She's the first woman to record a major work by one of the great revolutionary American composers, Frederic Rzewski. Rzewski created a setting of Oscar Wilde's "De Profundis" for any intrepid pianist who is also willing to sing.
