Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Although he had several hits on the pop charts in the nineties, singer/songwriter
Duncan Sheik continues to stretch outward, writing new music for many different
kinds of stages. Today he joins guest host Chris
Bannon to talk about the recent run of his theater piece The Nightingale
and tell us what else heÂ’s got on his plate. Also, WFMUÂ’s Kenneth
Goldsmith joins us for a discussion about what happened when you load all 15
of ShostakovichÂ’s 15 symphonies into a computer and layer them on top of
each other. Plus, originally from Australia, singer/songwriter Greta Gertler,
is now a hot commodity on the New York scene. Today, she is in the Soundcheck
studio to talk about some of her latest music.
