Strummin’, Bowin’ and Pluckin’

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Taking a trip down the New York State Thruway, the guitar and fiddle husband and wife team, Jay Ungar and Molly Mason will join guest host George Preston today for Soundcheck. Their twenty five year collaboration and courtship has produced some highly acclaimed American roots music, like the soundtrack for PBS’s The Civil War, recording several albums and hosting a live performance radio show on Northeast Public Radio. Also New York Times music writer Jeremy Eichler will stop by for our weekly critic’s spot for a conversation about a re-release of a 1950’s violin recording using a supposedly authentic “Bach bow.”
