Standing in the Shadows
Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Among the producers, sidemen and songwriters that make up the music industry’s unsung and under-recognized studio heroes, there are those that occasionally rise to greater acclaim. Among them is Brandon Ross, a guitarist, composer and arranger who has played and recorded with a who’s who of artists including Henry Threadgill, Oliver Lake and Arrested Development and has been Cassandra Wilson’s musical director and guitarist for over a decade. He’s also part of the New York based avant/jazz/rock trio Harriett Tubman, and he joins us to share some behind-the-scenes stories of the music biz.
