Rap in Africa

Soundcheck | May 3, 2010
Rap music was born as a primarily African American artform. Since the late ‘70s it has permeated not only American culture, but its become a global phenomenon. Today we'll look at rap's influence—both cultural and political—around the African continent, and we’ll hear some rap from from Ghana, Senegal and South Africa. We'll also have a live performance by the trio of singing sisters, The Roches.
