Multi-instrumentalist and composer Abraham Brody does it all - from violin, to electronic loop station and voice, to piano and Lithuanian zither – infusing his works with the folklore and music of his Lithuanian roots. In addition to his own compositions and improvisations, his latest record, From the Rich, Dark Earth also features the Sutartines singing group Trys Keturiose – their trance-like polyphonic ritual songs, and his own Slavic-Baltic group Pletai (shruti box, overtone flute, percussion & vocals.) Together Brody and Pletai perform story-songs built on Lithuanian myths, ranging from tales about linden trees, woeful arranged marriages and wreaths, in the studio.

Also on the show, hear music from Czech violinist, vocalist, and innovator Iva Bittova - from her self-titled record, and her song "River of Milk." Plus, music from Estonian fiddler Maarja Nuut, whose work takes Estonian folk songs as well as her own melodies and fashions them into experimental soundscapes through the use of loops and other sound-sculpting devices.
