Hear music with echoes of John Fahey (1939-2001), the American fingerstyle guitarist and composer. He somehow combined old time music, blues, classical, Eastern music and 20th Century pop and could pass it off as folk music. This so-called “American Primitive” style might describe music by Welsh multi-instrumentalist Gwenifer Raymond, or the American guitarist Glenn Jones, or multi-instrumentalist Yasmin Williams, as well as other guitarists with a distinctly American sound.

There’s also music by guitarist/songwriter/composer Kaki King, who plays acoustic, electric, and high-strung parlor guitars from the 19th century. Listen to work from her record, Glow.
