Beethoven's Eighth Symphony

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Beethoven’s Symphony No. 8 is not his most serious. In fact, it's his funniest. With a comical reference to the then-new time keeping device of the metronome, and a satirically over-dramatic ending, Beethoven’s 8th shows an unusual side of this composer. Hear it in a vivid performance by Sir Simon Rattle conducting the Vienna Philharmonic, tonight on Evening Music with David Garland, starting at 7pm on 93.9 FM.
