Soul to Soul

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Violinist Maxim Vengerov will be performing with Fazil Say at Carnegie Hall on March 19th, where you can hear him play, among other works, the Brahms Violin Sonata No. 2. Here on Evening Music we bring you instead, the Brahms No. 3, as he performs with Daniel Barenboim on piano. Angela Hewitt, one of the most acclaimed young pianists of the last several years, can be heard in Francois Couperin's Eighth Suite for Keyboard, otherwise known as "Huitieme ordre." Ms. Hewitt, who can be heard live at Columbia University's Miller Theater tomorrow evening, considers this one of the best of all the Baroque keyboard suites. For a 20th-century change of pace, we offer William Duckworth's "Imaginary Dances," jazzily rendered by pianist Lois Svard.
