Angela Hewitt Plays Ravel

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
Celebrated Canadian pianist Angela Hewitt can be heard at Zankel Hall on Thursday, April 7, playing Bach, Couperin, and Ravel. Hear her here this evening, playing Ravel’s “Sonatine.”
American pianist Garrick Ohlsson (b. 1948) celebrates his 57th birthday today. He was the first American ever to win the Chopin International Competition, which he conquered in 1970. We here him play the Chopin Piano Concerto No. 2 in F Minor, as Kasimierz Kord conducts the Warsaw Philharmonic. He then accompanies mezzo Ewa Podles as she sings Chopin’s “Wiosna” (Spring). And we do hope that bodes well for warmer weather!
