New CD's We Really Like!

Evening Music | May 6, 2010
This evening we feature new CDs we really like! Take a listen as Neeme Järvi and the Cincinnati Symphony play Debussy’s “La mer,” and see if you like it too.

One of our favorite recent releases is from Harmonia Mundi, an all-Nino Rota CD. Josep Pons conducts the Orquesta Cuidad de Granada throughout; what we listen to this evening is Rota’s suite of dances from the film “Il gattopardo” (The Leopard).

Mstislav Rostropovich conducts the London Symphony Orchestra in Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 8, on a recent offering from the LSO’s own label. It’s an astounding performance, and you just must stay tuned.
